THANK YOU - SWIMVILLE USA!!

Today we received an unexpected package from Swimville.  Our son, Clay Bisher, was recently selected to be a member of the Kentucky Zone Team, which competed in Atlanta in late July.  Two days before the Kentucky State USA swimming competition, Clay fractured his arm, which later lead to surgery, and missing being a member of the Zone Team.  He, as well as us,  was sickened by the whole experience.  However, it has made him more  determined to work harder, be a better swimmer, and make the Zone Team again  when he is able to return to swimming.  Anyway, Swimville sent him complimentary shirts that all of the Zone Team  members received in Atlanta, along with a note telling him that "He is a  great swimmer".  We cannot tell you how much this meant to us and to him.  This little act of kindness made such an impact upon our family.  It is with  great appreciation that we thank you for doing this.  We are looking forward  to many more years of swimming.  Thanks again.

Jason, Diane, and Clay Bisher

Q:  It looks like my child has too much fun, shouldn't she be working harder?

A:  Be happy that your child is having fun! According to a recent study conducted by USA Swimming children who experience fun while participating stay in sports longer (Tuffey, Gould, & Medbery, 1998). At this stage of the game, the most important aspect of development is the mastery of skills, which means learning to swim the strokes with proper technique. Fundamentals must be established prior to true “training” taking place. And, if she is having fun in the process of learning, she is more likely to continue to swim.   (USA Swimming/Age Group Training)
